Oh my, how time flies!!! I can't believe it has been MONTHS since I've logged on and posted a blog. Well, I am going to do MUCH better!
First things first, in case you didn't know, my 88 year old Dad received the Congressional Gold Medal on 6/27 at our Nation's Capitol in honor of his service as an Original Montford Point Marine. What, exactly, is an Original Montford Point Marine??? One of the first African Americans ALLOWED to enlist (for a temporary assignment) in active duty in the United States Marine Corps during the 1942 - 1943 time frame. Note the key words - ALLOWED and temporary assignment. I will post pictures of the award later.
